UN Tourism has opened applications for the 2024 edition of its “Best Tourism Villages” initiative on January 24th.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 5, aiming to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, and in accordance with the UN Tourism Agenda for Africa - Tourism for Inclusive Growth, which recognizes women and youth empowerment as a priority area, the webinar was held on the 8th of March, to mark International Women´s Day.

UN Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Zambia recently concluded the "Invest in Zambia: Tourism Investment Outlook, Trends, and Opportunities" event during FITUR in Madrid, on January 23, 2024.

The first UNWTO Communication, Media and Tourism Training in Africa Workshop organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) was in the majestic Victoria Falls, from 13 to 15 November 2023 bringing together tourism professionals, journalists, media and communication specialists drawn from 20 countries in the Africa region.

In a display of creativity and technological prowess, the second iteration of the Tourism Hackathon Nigeria unfolded at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos from September 6th to 7th, 2023. Organized by Bedouin Group as part of the Hack for Tomorrow initiative, the event set out to redefine Nigeria's tourism landscape through the power of technology.
